Woodland Well-Being Day

Sunday 22 May 10.30-16.30

“And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul. John Muir

Connecting with nature has so many personal benefits - it reduces stress, helps us sleep better, maintains physical health, can make us happier and more resilient to life's ups and downs and reminds us of the beauty and wonder in the world.

But perhaps most importantly, by connecting with nature we connect with something larger than ourselves and begin to see the interconnectedness of all life. This connection brings us home to ourselves and as the mind becomes a little quieter we can hear our hearts call and open to our inner wisdom.

These Woodland Well-Being Days have been born out of the desire to offer the intrinsic, personal benefits that nature can provide by being fully present and awake in the wild, and give you the time and space to be nurtured and supported so that you can reconnect to what is truly important to you.

Through creative art, meditations, mindful movement, poetry, breathwork, dance and more (!) we will journey home to ourselves, let go of what’s no longer needed within, create space in the mind and body and kick start our innate healing capacities.

Allow yourself to be held in a safe space to explore the wisdom of the body, mind and Mother Nature to create greater calm, freedom and lasting happiness. As we learn to keep in harmony with nature and the seasons, we naturally encourage a flow and ease to return.

This retreat will be perfect for you if you:

  • feel the call to connect with nature in a more meaningful way
  • want to create space and time for your health and well-being
  • would like to learn how to follow the seasonal shifts and rhythms of nature
  • want to connect with like-minded people and be part of our growing Woodland Yoga community
  • would like to be supported and held in a safe space so you can journey inwards
  • need some inner nourishment and deep rest

No experience necessaryjust a love of nature, and a readiness to journey inwards.

N.B. This retreat will take place at Panshanger Park in a private, secluded woodland. It will go ahead regardless of the weather (more details below) and we will have shelter and a fire but dressing for the weather will be essential.

Early Bird Offer available until 1st May - £120 after this date. Places are limited and sell out quickly so do book your space if you'd like to join us.

'Supports mental health'

by Finola McManus

'What I love best about your teachings is that they not only give the benefit of a yoga practice but also deliver simple and practical ways to apply the teachings in every day life and help support mental wellbeing which is especially important at this time.'

What you can expect

This full-day retreat will take place in a private, secluded woodland set within Panshanger Park. Here we'll be welcomed with warming tea and a settling meditation to ground and become present, to set intentions and recognise how we are at this time.

We’ll move slowly into gathering wood for the fire creation and then into our gentle, mindful yoga practice and nature-based meditations.  We'll then make our own Japansee Hapi art prints followed by lunch cooked over the camp fire and we'll take time to just be over nourishing food and good company.

After lunch we'll enjoy a discovery walk to learn about our woodland setting and visit the impressive Panshanger Great Oak, the largest maiden oak in the country. We’ll return to our camp where we'll create our own dreamcatchers or crowns and then enjoy a deeply nourishing restorative yoga practice with yoga nidra session (a lying down meditation).

To top off the day we will close with meditations and reflections before heading home feeling refreshed, calm and connected.

Absolutely no experience necessary, just an open mind and a love of Nature!

The day will look something like this:

10.15-10.30 – Arrival at a private secluded part of Panshanger Park

10.30-11.00 – Welcoming tea and intention setting meditation

'A priceless gift'

by Liza Timpson

Louise has a gift at transferring a real sense of inner calm and peace, in what has been very challenging times. Her lessons are creative and extremely useful in understanding how to cope in challenging situations. I informed a friend quite simply attending online has been a game changer for me. I feel ready to conquer my day or week ahead. A priceless gift.'

This special location

Our Woodland Well-Being Retreat Day will take at Panshanger Park, a private, secluded area of the park that usually is inaccessible to visitors. It is an enchanting place set within the stunning Hertfordshire countryside, amongst the sounds and energy of nature.

Compost toilet facilities will be available and we will have shelter (not the bell tent pictured, illustration purposes only!) as well as a fire to keep us warm and to cook on. Our practices will take place inside the shelter, around the fire, as well in the meadows and the ancient woodland.

Soak up the peace and quiet of this unique location and allow it to bring you home to yourself.

Your Teacher

Louise Neicho

Having spent the first 20 years of my professional life working in and with Nature I feel a deep connection to the natural world that has promoted numerous benefits in my life. Combining this with a love and appreciation of yoga and mindfulness that spans over two decades has enabled me to share practices that help us connect more deeply with Nature and ourselves. I have completed over 1000hrs of yoga and mindfulness teacher training and in 2023 I received a distinction for my master's degree in Mindfulness where my thesis focused on the wellbeing benefits of connecting with Nature. I can honestly say that yoga and Nature has saved my life on more than one occasion, and I don’t think I would be the person I am today if it wasn’t for my practice. To bring all of this together is simply a dream come true and I hope you will join me and our like-minded community soon.

'Louise is so kind and caring'

by Emma Scinaldi

'I started as a complete beginner and was worried I would not be able to follow the moves, but Louise is so kind and caring, plus really knows her stuff so is able to give very clear, supportive guidance. There is never any pressure as Louise always offers alternatives. With care and kindness she has encouraged me to really develop my practice. I always feel really energised after a session with Louise but I am also starting to notice a higher level of peace and tranquility in my day to day life. I feel strong and calm at the same time!
